Comments: No longer following this author. Given up trying to buy eBooks from authors and publishers who don’t want my money. It is really disappointing not to be able to support them and buy their latest release in the format that I want to read it in. It is ridiculous in this day and age that geographical restrictions apply. No eBook available for me to purchase on release date, no sale. There are plenty of other authors out there that publish books where geographical restrictions do not apply and I have found plenty of new-to-me authors to replace the ever increasing number of agency authors that I can now no longer buy and support.

Comments: I enjoy almost all of Adair’s books. They’re fun beach reads with characters I enjoy reading about. I purchased the first book in this series, Undertow, when the kindle edition was discounted to $2.99 in July 2011. However, I refuse to buy any ebook priced the same as the print edition, so I will buy no other books by this author. I’ve read 13 of Adair’s books, but they were all purchased used or borrowed from my library. And with the current prices, it looks like I’ll be continuing to do so.

Comments: $9.99 for a digital copy of a $23.00 book is completely acceptable to me. However, the print version came out in hardback 2/1/11 and then trade side on 7/5/11 for $14.99, and MMPB won’t be out until 11/29/11. The sequel is already out and the digital version is selling for the same price as the first digital book.

I didn’t want to wait for the price to go down when the MMPB was released, so I just borrowed the book from my library. Honestly, the fact that this was an Agency book kept me from purchasing it… which happens quite a lot for me. Especially when the publisher is St. Martin’s Press/Macmillan because their editing is usually atrocious. So much so that I can’t enjoy the book to my fullest.

Comments: When I finished reading Hex Hall (which I gave 5 stars) on my kindle, this book was recommended to me. I immediately went to the kindle store to read the synopsis, and would have purchased it if it weren’t an Agency ebook. Not only is sold by (in my opinion) the evil Macmillan, but it’s also priced the same price as the current print version. So instead of the publisher and author making a sale, I put this book on my list of books to borrow from the library.

I just can’t get past the fact that I wouldn’t really ‘own’ this book if I bought it. It would have DRM and is non-lendable – so I personally won’t buy an ebook priced the same as the print equivalent.
